About Cyber Switch Up 2024

  • Cyber Switch Up is a digital & cyber skills competition aimed at students aged 11-18 years in Key Stages 3, 4 and 5

  • Open to students in all secondary schools and colleges across Yorkshire & the Humber

  • Free to participate Online qualifier can be completed in school or at home

  • Chance to compete in an in-person finals event on 26th November 2024

  • Chance of winning trophies and prizes for participants and their school

Competition Format

  • Online qualifier (open to all) – a series of short exercises/puzzles on digital and cyber themes (one entry per person) – e-certificate awarded to all participants

  • In-person one day finals event for highest performing participants – series of hands-on fun and challenging exercises/puzzles in a ‘gaming arena’ format based on digital and cyber themes – merchandise, trophies and prizes on offer to all participants

Live in person finals day 26th November 2024

  • Venue – Sheffield Hallam University City Campus, Sheffield

  • Best performing participants in the October online qualifier in all Key Stage age groups will compete for trophies and prizes

  • Exhibition hall and keynote talks on a range of cyber and digital themes including education and career opportunities and pathways for young people

Key Information

  • Participants must have the express support of their Teacher and Parent or Care Giver in order to compete in Cyber Switch Up 2024

  • Participants must have access to a computer/device with internet access to compete in the on-line qualifier

  • Participants and a responsible adult must be available on 26th November 2024 to attend the in-person finals event at Sheffield Hallam University City Campus if successful in the online qualifier

  • Showcase the digital and cyber skills & talent of students across Yorkshire & Humber

  • Educate and promote digital & cyber pathways for higher and further education

  • Raise awareness of the diverse digital & cyber career pathways available to young people

  • Promote Cyber Choices messaging – encourage positive and lawful cyber behaviours in young people
